Aboriginal Services – Cultural Care Education Series

By Walter Lindstone, Social Worker, Rainbow and Family Services

As the the Cultural Resource for the Aboriginal Services Addiction Treatment Program, I am excited to announce our new Cultural Care Education Series.

Gathering at the CAMH Spiritual Care Space at 100 Stokes St. on the last Wednesday of every month, we will explore Aboriginal history, peoples, ceremonies, songs, dances and stories.

This is for all CAMH staff and clients who wish to learn more about ‘wise’ practice when working with Aboriginal clients and their communities.

Aboriginal Culture of SafetyIncluded in the series

  • Competence, Awareness, Sensitivity
  • Historical Trauma Transmission
  • What is Aboriginal ‘Wholistic’ health?
  • How we practice it here at CAMH
  • Resources, References, and Certifications

Our first session, Aboriginal Culture of Safety starts Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

Please come out and join us for some exciting learning, sharing, and spiritual insight!
