Green space and mental health
Access to green space is an important part of healing and recovery. Earlier this year, as part of the special Mental Health Matters series with TVO, Alice Liang spoke about the importance of incorporating green space into design and public spaces. Liang is the chief architect of the CAMH Queen Street Redevelopment project.
“I really think there needs to be some sort of awareness, almost a policy, where every major public institution, as it develops its own new building, contributes a part of its property and devotes it to the community at large,” says Liang.
Over the next few weeks on the CAMHblog, we will explore how CAMH programs integrate access to green space, gardening, recreational therapy and nutrition into the recovery process.
